Staff
One
of the many values you will find at La Casita is on its staff. A
minimum turnover tells you how stable the community is, and how much
each of the teachers and assistants enjoy their days in this community.
Our staff is constantly updating their knowledge, and participating in
trainings to stay on top of new trends in the education field.
Zamahara
Berkov-Rojas
is the founder and Director of La Casita Bilingue Montessori School.
Her passion and commitment made La Casita a wonderful reality. She
received her AA in Early Childhood Education from Contra Costa College,
her BS in Science and Values from JFK University, and her Montessori
training from the St. Nicholas Centre. Zamahara is passionate about
education related to the importance of preserving the rainforest and
our earth’s resources. She enjoys sharing with the children at La
Casita, planning special activities, actively seeking for enrichment
programs to enhance even more the experience of children and families.
Zamahara is originally from Costa Rica.

She also completed two years of Montessori training at Contra Costa

approach, the self-discipline, materials divided in different areas.
“What I enjoy the most is to see children completing an assignment and
saying “I did it”, that is the most rewarding moment for me.” A native
of Nicaragua, Gloria has seen dozens of children in her classroom, and
enjoys to stay in touch with them.
Elisa
Guima is the Head Teacher Preschool
“After
a few experiences in other fields, I knew my heart was in the child
care field, especially the younger ones. This is what makes me happy”
shares Elisa while she smiles friendly. Elisa was born in Mexico City
of Japanese and Peruvian decent. She completed her Montessori training
through Contra Costa College in 2009. Her passion is to guide the children at La Casita. With a notable emotion, she explains
how much she enjoys watching the students enthusiasm to learn, watching
them while they interact and discover something while their faces
lights up like a light bulb that is turned on.
Julia
Aguirre (Associate Teacher & Office Assistant)
Julia
started at La Casita in 2005. She was hired to help out for two weeks,
but short after knew she wanted to stay. Julia had helped her aunt, a
teacher in Nicaragua, before she moved to the US. “I had work in
finances but here, I was in touch with the children, their sincere and
caring love hooked me up and decided to stay on this field.” Julia has a bachelors degree
in Banking and Finance from the Unniversidad Politecnica de Nicaragua and
is currently working towards her Early Childhood AA degree at Contra Costa College. Julia
